Singular and Plural Personal Pronouns

Genders are rarely identical in any 2 languages. For example, 'table' is neuter in English, masculine in Russian (стол) and feminine in French (la table). If you are from English speaking background you'll find that inanimate (non-living) objects have gender association in Russian Language.

ТЫ is a familiar form for addressing close friends or individuals of the same age group

 ВЫ is a plural form of ТЫ

 ВЫ is also used in formal social context or when addressing  a person of an older age group. I.e. you would normally address your teacher as ВЫ.
